Felipe Torres focuses his practice in tax, administrative and trade law litigation, as well as amparo, in addition to advising domestic and international clients in the general areas of civil and commercial law, both in Mexico and abroad. His practice ranges from the appeal of tax declarations to the challenge of administrative decisions, and the recovery in federal court of improper governmental fees, such as registration fees, fines, and sanctions deriving from tax payments. Felipe has successfully represented large construction companies in the challenge of the results of public bids, as well as in actions against public entities for the breach of public works contracts. In his practice, Felipe has argued claims before the highest courts, including Mexico’s Supreme Court of Justice, and has participated in the creation of a number of published opinions.

Felipe also represents title insurance companies in the research and analysis of complicated issues of title and ownership, and in the defense of their interests.

Felipe regularly appears as an expert witness in U.S. state and federal courts to illuminate the application and interpretation of Mexican legal and case law precedent, and in questions of forum non conveniens, and has been designated both by the parties, as well as by the courts themselves.

In his practice, Felipe has advised significant national and international clients involved in the areas of public and private construction projects, mining, civil aviation, energy and oil & gas, insurance and financial services, ceramics and glass manufacturing, appliance manufacturing, and steel manufacturing.
