Luis Torres focuses his practice in the area of civil and mercantile litigation, with an emphasis on international commercial litigation. Luis has broad experience in the international arena with multi-jurisdictional procedural matters, such as judicial notifications and service of process, discovery and collection of evidence, letters rogatory, claims of forum non conveniens, and the recognition and enforcement in Mexico of foreign judgments and arbitral awards. Luis has also appeared as an expert witness before U.S. state and federal courts to assist in the clarification and application of Mexican legal and case law precedent.

Domestically, Luis has represented national and international insurers and re-insurers on matters spanning from the negotiation with insureds regarding the determination and valuation of property loss, the collection of evidence and preservation of rights, and the implementation of subrogation actions, to the negotiation of claims awards and payment of the same. Luis has also represented foreign banks and financial institutions in the structuring, documentation, and authorization of financings in Mexico, as well as collection of such financings that fall into default. He has additionally advised important institutional investors in the legal due diligence, evaluation, and acquisition of industrial and residential developments, the acquisition of title insurance, and the defense of property rights before Mexican tribunals.

In his practice, Luis has counseled national and international clients in the following industries: banking services; finance; investment and insurance; energy and oil & gas; mining; aviation; hotels; sports; food & drink; and manufacturing in the ceramic, glass, and appliances industries.
